Joe will start his fourth season as head coach for the 2019 Pecan Grove Piranhas. Coach Imrie has 25 years of coaching experience at a variety of levels, including summer leagues, junior high and high school (Terry HS-7 years). More recently, he has been doing private coaching and stroke instruction clinics, as well as working with his own boys.
Growing up, Coach Joe swam USS swimming and was a state champion in the 200 butterfly. He was also a state qualifier for Spring Woods High School. Following high school, he swam for Henderson State University and was a four year All-American, holding school and conference records.
Coach Joe and his wife Leann have two boys, Mason and Mitchell, who have been swimming with Pecan Grove for the last nine years. Coach Imrie said, “I'm excited about the opportunity to help our swimmers reach their potential and have fun at the same time.”
My name is Gabe Smith. I am a junior at Travis High School. I have been swimming with PGST since I was 7 years old so this will be my 10th year with the team. I have also swam 3 years varsity for Travis. My favorite strokes are butterfly and freestlye. I love teaching kids and want to pass on my love of swimming to them!
I am a graduating senior from Foster High School and served as its varsity swim team captain. Foster's swim team has competed at the state level for three consecutive years. I also serve as a captain for our varsity water polo team that competed at sate the level last year. I look forward to competing again in May. This summer marks my 11th and final year as a swimmer with the Pecan Grove swim team, which is why the Piranhas is near and dear to my heart. I'm exited at the opportunity to pay my love this sport forward to the 2019 swimmers.
